One evening, L and C took us out to Art Mango Cafe, a restaurant that prepares Asian fusion French cuisine. I was having a noodle/rice craving (it’s an Asian thing?), but I felt guilty not eating French food in France. So Art Mango Cafe was the perfect compromise. The restaurant is situated in a prime location in a plaza near Montpellier centre, and is surrounded by the old city walls that make for a pretty awesome backdrop, especially at night. Also, they were open on Mondays! (In France, many restaurants are closed on Mondays)
As we devoured our Thai noodle soup, gazpacho, rice bean sprout salad, ginger beef, chicken curry, and creme flan and a layered chocolate creme cake for dessert, we chatted and laughed about everything and nothing. It was a wonderful night with great people and great food in a great city.
Afterwards, we walked into the center of the bustling city. Students sat along the stairs of a cathedral, music was blasting from the bars, and restaurants were filled with late night locals. Things were pretty eventful for a Monday evening. L and C found a lost and scared cat wandering the streets, and managed to track down its owner. After the happy reunion, we continued through the streets and found ourselves at the Beehive, a pub with plenty of English and Irish beers on tap. We found a table right outside amongst the students and late night locals and had ourselves a lovely night cap before heading home.
