Having visited other towns in Cape Cod, P and I seem to always come back to Provincetown, aka P-town, for the top notch grub, fun and diverse atmosphere and the soft sand beaches. It wouldn’t be New England summer without a trip to P-town, so P and I headed south to soak in the last few weeks of summer. As it so happens, Carnival was taking place the same weekend! Carnival is a celebration of the LGBT community with a week of partying. As we approached Commercial Street (the main street in the town), rainbow banners flapped wildly along the street and drag queens in mermaid costumes were out and about encouraging passersby to attend that evening’s drag performance. Houses were decorated in bright neon colors and strewn with Hello Kitty balloons and dominatrix blow- dolls. A Vladimir Pussy poster took up nearly half of the front porch of one house and was a popular photo op among tourists and locals alike. I loved the dizzying and chaotic atmosphere of Carnival and wished that we had stayed the night to fully enjoy the evening festivities.
Instead, P and I embraced the Carnival mid-day fun, went sailing along the coast of the Cape (read about our sailing adventure here), enjoyed the Race Point Beach (of course), had ourselves a lovely dinner at the Squealing Pig, and finished off the night with drinks and an ocean view at the Harbor Lounge. All in all, I’d say we had a pretty darn great day! This is why we keep coming back!
Here’s a short video of our day trip to P-town:

Hope everyone’s having a fantastic summer!
