When we finally settled down in the Bay Area, P wanted to reconnect with his old high school friend, J, who currently lives in Napa. J and his wife, B, are what we call true world travelers, always on the move and constantly exploring new cities and new countries to discover their passions, specifically wine and yoga. So, it was really by chance that we both happened to be living in Northern California.
We planned on meeting J and B for dinner and drinks in Sonoma, so we decided to go for a bike ride in the afternoon. We rented bikes from Sonoma Valley Bike Tours & Rentals, grabbed a bike map, and went on our way to visit a few wineries and explore the area. We didn’t really have much of a plan, except to hit up some wineries, because we knew the region was just to large for us amateur bikers to cover. Though we enjoyed sipping wine at popular wineries, such as Gundlach Bundschu and Ravenswood Winery, we particularly loved biking through the Sonoma neighborhoods and smaller family wineries. The views were spectacular all throughout the region, and we returned the bike 4 hours later with sore bums and sun tans.
Afterwards, we met up with J and B at HopMonk Tavern near downtown Sonoma for food, drinks, and a lot of catching up / getting to know each other. We got a great table outside, and as the night darkened, the strung lights above gave off a lovely golden glow. We gabbed all night, mainly about our past and future travels, and vowed to stay connected.
