The next leg of our trip after our week long jaunt in Ireland was beautiful Switzerland. We started in the little town of Bad Ragaz for Phil’s work and then spent the rest of the time visiting family throughout Switzerland.
Bad Ragaz is a popular spa and health resort destination, and interestingly, the setting for Johanna Spyri’s children’s book, Heidi. I had never heard of this town, but was excited to explore a new part of Switzerland.
Bad Ragaz took my breath away with the colorful houses and babbling brooks. The Tamina Gorge was also a quick drive away, and the famous Heidi World theme park was close by. The spa was so enticing and I would have loved to try out a nice soak. But, unfortunately, we weren’t able to fit much in during our short stay and having baby Aidan along made spa-ing and getting around a little bit more difficult. So, we spent our time wandering around the village and admiring our surroundings.
We also happen to visit during Bad Ragaz Art Festival, so the whole town was an art gallery with beautiful statues and structures filling up the parks and squares.
It was great just being in Switzerland again and enjoying the mountain air. For Aidan, this was his first time visiting the fatherland. Hopefully, there will be more trips to come in the near future!
