Best Glamping Experience: Mendocino Grove

Our family always finds ourselves back in Mendocino. With its majestic coast lines and fewer crowds, Mendocino is a little sanctuary away from more popular Northern California coastal towns. In the warmer months, we love to stay at Mendocino Grove, a glamping destination with a warm community and so much to do. P.S. It’s also dog friendly so you can bring your furry friends with you!

Here’s our glamping experience at Mendocino Grove as a family:

Tents & Bathrooms

We have stayed in both the family tent (A4) and the classic tent (M1 & E1) and they worked great for our family of four (2 adults, 2 toddlers). The family tents have a queen bed and two twin beds and the tent itself was quite spacious. For the classic tents, they were able to put an extra cot for our toddler and our younger one slept in the queen bed with us. You can always bring a pack n’ play as well. There’s also a small table, chair, trunk and little hanging mirror inside the tents.

Each tent also comes with a food locker outside because… raccoons…who are braver than you think. So many stories with these raccoons… There are also two leather chairs on your porch, a picnic table and a fire pit with wooden stumps for sitting.

The campground bathrooms are clean and modern with both indoor and outdoor showering facilities. We really like using the outdoor showers just because it was different and fun. There’s also a couple of sinks to wash dishes and a water filling station (so bring your water bottles!).

Overall, you get to experience camping in the outdoors but with the comforts of a heated bed and a warm shower.

Things to Do on the Campus

(1) Go for a little walk on their campground loop trail to get a taste of what Mendocino hikes have to offer.

(2) Check out the sunset views at Mendocino Bay Overlook.

(3) Try complimentary yoga in the morning on their patio.

(4) Enjoy live music around the campfire on the weekends and meet other campers.

(5) Relax in Meadow Commons, a large green space where you can gather with friends, get your morning coffee / tea and breakfast, relax in the hammocks and swings, and play bocce ball and badminton… all with dependable wi-fi.

(6) Walk down to Big River and rent some canoes at Catch a Canoe.

(7) Make s’mores over the fire pit. You can get add-ons like firewood and s’mores for an additional fee (they will bring it right to your tent so you don’t have to carry it from the office). If you don’t want to bring any cookware, plates, utensils etc., you can also rent a Camp Box… literally all the conveniences!

Book a tent at Mendocino Grove here! It’s totally worth it!
