8 Best Places to Visit in Marin County, California

With a new year and a new job, it’s been busy, and I feel like there aren’t enough hours in a day! But, we still tried to venture out when we have a little bit of time to spare on the weekends. This winter, we’ve been exploring beautiful Marin county and appreciating everything the area has to offer. The Golden Gate Bridge has been our passage to Marin, and we have gotten quite acquainted with each other. Here are some of our favorite Marin spots!

(1) Stinson Beach

Fun little beach town. Grab a bite to eat at Parkside Cafe and then head down to the beach for a nap, a swim, and some pup and people watching.

(2) Tennessee Valley

Start at the Tennessee Valley trailhead for a family-friendly hike to a small black sand beach surrounded by magnificent cliffs. For the more adventurous, try the longer hike along the coast to Muir Beach.

(3) Point Reyes & Tomales Bay

A favorite place to visit since we’ve moved to the Bay Area. Great hikes and bird/whale/elk watching at Point Reyes National Seashore. Have a late lunch at The Marshall Store for fresh and grilled oysters and house made smoked fish. Or grab a picnic table and shuck your own oysters at Tomales Bay Oyster Company. Check out our Point Reyes travel guide for more information on best places to stay, things to do and where to eat!

(7) Marin Headlands

For that postcard shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Drive along Conzelman Road or climb Hawk Hill.

(8) Rodeo Beach

Throwing this spot in because it’s one of the few dog friendly beaches left in the area. Frequented by locals and generally never crowded. Love taking our pup here so that she can run free.
