2 Night Stay in Nick’s Cove & Point Reyes

Point Reyes is often the lesser known surrounding Bay Area destination, but it’s one of our favorite places to get away. October is the best month to visit because there are more days of sunshine and the weather is perfectly toasty. To celebrate my birthday, our 4 year wedding anniversary and a little one on the way (i.e. babymoon), we headed back up north to enjoy some down time.

We splurged and booked 2 nights at Nick’s Cove for the weekend to slowly enjoy and explore Point Reyes National Park. We also made sure to really take advantage of Nick’s Cove and ended up having dinner both nights at their Restaurant with a nice pre-dinner aperitif and appetizers on the docks. The views were so gorgeous and we made sure to soak in all the calm before our lives get rocked by a little nugget. Check out our Point Reyes travel guide for more info on best places to stay, things to do and where to eat!

We stayed in Judy’s Cottage which was across the street from the restaurant and perfect for the two of us. There was a comfortable bed, a small living room space and a bathroom in the back. We were also able to enjoy our morning coffee on our front porch.

We ended our evenings on the restaurant dock, enjoying some drinks and hors d’oeuvres before dinner at the restaurant. The service was wonderful and the food was so tasty!

We spent our one full day exploring Point Reyes National Seashore. We did a hike from Pierce Point Ranch and through the Tule Elk preserve. We were lucky to spot a harem of elk near the trails!

After our hike, we checked out the famous Cypress Tree tunnel and we were lucky that it wasn’t super crowded. It’s always so magical walking through.

We then went for a quick afternoon snack of grilled oysters and toasted garlic bread with views of Tomales Bay at The Marshall Store before heading back to Nick’s Cove.
