Wondering how to spend 2 days in Granada? My guide shares a detailed itinerary with recommendations on the best things to do, see and eat.
Visiting Granada is like stepping back in time where we were lucky enough to get a glimpse of Spain’s past life, gazing upon the Morrish architectural feats and appreciating the colorful intricate shapes all around the city. It is one of my favorite cities thus far in Spain, and the ultimate bucket list destination.

How long to stay in Granada
How many days in Granda is enough? We recommend staying at least 2 days minimum but if you have more time, definitely stay a day or two longer! There’s so much more to see than just the Alhambra and you’ll kick yourself for not adding more time to explore the rest of Granada.
Where to Stay
We stayed at the NH Collection Victoria Hotel close to the centre of town and it was the perfect splurge. The bed was so luxurious and the location was ideal. It was great place to come back to after a long day of exploring.
Granada in 2 Days
Day 1
MORNING
Wander the Albaicin & Sacromonte on foot. The best way to see Granada is by walking and exploring all of the small alleyways and uphill climbs. We did an amazing walking tour of Albaicin and Sacromonte, which gave us a glimpse of the city history and culture. We also stopped at all of the beautiful view points, our guide was very knowledgeable and it was a great first look at the city.
After the walking tour, we continued to explore each neighborhood and got lost in the hidden alleyways and cobblestone streets. It felt like we were discovering new spots along the way.
AFTERNOON
Grab a bite at Cacho & Pepe and enjoy the delicious Italian fare in a nearby square. If you’re craving something a bit different from your normal Spanish fare, try this little food shop. The eggplant lasagna and tiramisu were both so good!
EVENING
Enjoy sunset at Mirador San Nicolas. This is the ultimate spot for sunsets in this city with the best views of Alhambra, but everyone knows this as well. So, get ready to wait for a snapshot and get friendly with your fellow tourists. The gypsy music is a nice distraction and the views are just unbelievable. So it’s worth it!
Have dinner at Bar Poe, located right in the heart of town and owned by a British expat who loves Spanish people, food and culture. You get a nice sized tapa (which you can actually choose from on a menu) with each drink and great conversations with the owner and those sitting next to you. It’s a popular place for students, locals and expats because the price is so darn reasonable. I felt like we didn’t get treated like typical tourists here and met some really interesting personalities.
Day 2
MORNING
Start your second day with a tour of Alhambra and Generalife. The palace, fortress and gardens are a must visit when you come to Granada. Tip: Book your tickets / tour months in advance. Tickets go fast, especially if you want to do a tour. We aren’t big tour group people but for this specific site, we wanted to get as much context and history while exploring the large palace and gardens. We booked 2 months in advance and felt like we were essentially left with one option. The tour we did was solid and we learned quite a bit about the life in the Alhambra and the history of Granada.
AFTERNOON
After spending all day walking, enjoy a warm soak at Hammam Al Ándalus and experience an ancient tradition of an Arabian bath and relaxation.
EVENING
End the evening with a tapas tasting or walking food tour in Granada and try different tapas and local specialties.
