Where to Stay

We stayed in the Triana neighborhood which we found to be more affordable but we had to cross the bridge everyday to access downtown Seville. You can also opt to stay closer to the downtown to spend more time at all of the attractions. You can book your next visit to Seville here!

3 Day Seville Itinerary

Day 1

Start your first day visiting the Royal Alcázar of Seville, a highlight attraction in the city. Book tickets in advance to skip the lines and highly recommend booking a guided tour if possible to learn more. It was lovely wandering the gardens and running after the little one through the orange trees and curated bushes. We admired the beautiful Moorish carvings and details throughout the Alcázar. Then walk 10 minutes to the Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic church in the world and an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend some time enjoying the architectural design and history. Many famous people are buried in some of the chapels, including Christopher Columbus.

In the evening, venture into a local neighborhood. If you’re staying near the cathedral and alcazar, explore the Santa Cruz neighborhood’s narrow streets, charming squares, and local shops. We stayed in the Triana neighborhood and enjoyed a traditional Spanish dinner at a Los Golindras which was delicious. The restaurant was filled with both tourists and locals alike. We asked the waiter for recommendations and he brought out large platters of grilled squid, grilled pork steaks on toast and side of artichoke salad. There was plenty of food for all of us and the meal was incredibly affordable.

Day 2

Rent some bikes and ride around the Seville. We rented some bikes from a nearby bike shop in Triana to make getting around a lot easier. It also allowed us the flexibility to go where we liked and we got to see so much more than if we were to explore by foot. You can also book a guided bike tour (or e-bike tour) for a more planned biking itinerary.

Our first stop was Plaza de España where we wandered around and enjoyed the beautiful architecture and vibrant colors. Then it was bike ride through the gorgeous Parque de Maria Luisa, where they have a huge playground, perfect for kids to get their wiggles out!

For lunch, head to the Mercado de Triana to dine on a variety of fried seafood, cheese, jamón and fruit and it was delicious! Our waiter was multi-lingual and showed off his French, English and German language skills with our table. This meal was relaxing and just what we were looking for after a day of biking. There are also guided Triana market tours with tastings. This cooking class with a Triana market tour also looks like a fun option as well!

After the meal, take a boat tour on the Guadalquivir River and enjoy beautiful views with a side of fun stories from the captain.

In the late afternoon, head to see a flamenco performance at the Museum of Flamenco. Phil’s brother and family stayed in an Airbnb and their host, Andrea, was kind enough to take us to a pre-show peak at a flamenco dance class in the studios where her daughter was practicing. We were mesmerized by the foot work, the sweeping and exaggerated movements, and the gorgeous costumes!

After the show, walk the 7 minutes to Plaza Nueva where locals frequented on summer days. Kids were running around shooting water guns and playing soccer. Everyone was sitting outside having dinner and enjoying the cooler summer night. We found a spot with comfortable chairs at a nearby restaurant that was right next to a playground. It was the perfect place for the kids to play while we sipped tinto de verano and munched on tapas.

Day 3

Spend some time wandering the lively Triana neighborhood, which is known for its ceramic workshops. While exploring the shops and streets in Triana, we came upon a local religious street parade, which was a fun surprise to watch and appreciate.

Watch the sunset and stroll along the riverfront promenade to enjoy views of the illuminated city. Then enjoy dinner at Blanco Paloma. We recommend going at opening time and know that it will fill up rather quickly. We made the mistake of walking around the block since the restaurant looked empty. When we returned 10 minutes later, it was packed and all of the tables were taken. We ended up enjoying our drinks and tapas at the bar and chatting with other locals and tourists, which was also really fun.
